By using SOCYiD, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect

- Phone number
- Date of birth (for age verification - minimum 18 years old)
- Profile picture (optional)
- Bio and profile information
- Unique SOCYiD identifier code
Identity Verification Information
When you choose to verify your identity through Persona (our third-party identity verification provider), we collect:
- Government-issued ID documents (driver's license, passport, etc.)
- Selfie photographs for identity confirmation
- Document verification results and status
- Verification timestamps and metadata
Location Information
- GPS coordinates when you use location-based features
- Location sharing data during active meetings
- Check-in locations at verified establishments
- Location history (automatically deleted after 90 days)
Usage Information
- Messages and communications with other users
- Meeting requests and coordination information
- Ratings and reviews you provide
- Safety reports and SOS alerts
- App usage patterns and preferences
Device and Technical Information
- Device type, operating system, and version
- IP address and browser information
- Device identifiers and push notification tokens
- App version and crash reports
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Verify your identity and authenticate your account
- Facilitate meeting coordination and location sharing between users
- Enable secure messaging and communication features
- Process and display user ratings and reviews
- Send safety alerts, notifications, and emergency assistance

- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and abuse

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

With Other Users
- Profile information (name, photo, bio, verification status)
- Location data during active meeting coordination (with your consent)
- Ratings and reviews you've provided or received
- Your SOCYiD identifier code when you share it
With Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (see Section 11 for complete list).
For Legal Compliance
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of SOCYiD, our users, or others
- To investigate fraud, security issues, or violations of our Terms
- In connection with emergency situations involving danger of death or serious injury
Business Transfers
If SOCYiD is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy:
- Account Information: Retained until you delete your account
- Location History: Automatically deleted after 90 days
- Messages: Retained until deleted by users, or when accounts are deleted
- Verification Documents: Retained by Persona according to their data retention policies and legal requirements
- Transaction Records: Retained for legal compliance (typically 7 years)
- Safety Reports: Retained for legal compliance and safety purposes
After you delete your account, some information may be retained for legitimate business purposes, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
Access and Portability
You can request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used format.
Correction
You can update your profile information directly in the app or request corrections to inaccurate data.
Deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Note that some information may be retained as described in Section 5.
Objection and Restriction
You can object to certain processing of your information or request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.
Withdraw Consent
Where we process your information based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time.

7. California Residents' Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: Request disclosure of personal information collected, used, and shared
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
- Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information, so opt-out is not applicable
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights
To exercise these rights, email SOCYiDsupport@socyid.com with "California Privacy Rights Request" in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
8. Children's Privacy
SOCYiD is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 18, please contact us immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
SOCYiD is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
These countries may have data protection laws that differ from your country. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries. We implement appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses where required.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience:

They are permitted to use your information only for the specific purposes we define and must adhere to strict data protection obligations.
Each service provider operates under its own privacy policy. We conduct regular reviews to ensure our partners continue to meet our security and compliance requirements.

Key security measures include AES-256 encryption for data at rest, TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit, end-to-end encryption for messages, role-based access controls, and regular security audits. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice such as email notification or in-app alerts. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

You have control over your information:
- Location Sharing: You can enable or disable location services at any time through your device settings
- Push Notifications: You can opt out of push notifications through app or device settings
- Email Communications: You can opt out of promotional emails via unsubscribe links (you'll still receive essential Service communications)
- Profile Visibility: You can control what profile information is visible to other users
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time through app settings
